Abstract
Industrial perlite contains a wide range of particle size including a high proportion of very fine dust.
For many horticultural purposes the presence of this dust can be disasterous and promote waterlogging.
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the physical parameters of different perlite mixtures with different particle size distribution in order to know the water- and air economy.
Depending on the water- and air content the use of perlite can be different.
Therefore different grades of perlite are necessary in order to have specific properties for specific horticultural need.
Also these properties must be guaranteed in order to be used for different purposes in horticulture.
