Abstract
The aim of this research is to select female and male pistachios which have synchronous flowering periods.

Thirty males were selected for evaluation of their growth and development, flower pollen and flowering charecteristics in the Akçalar and Tilkiler villages of Pazarcik district in Kahramanmaras, and from the orchards of Pistachio Research Institute in Gaziantep.
These types were evaluated according to the weighted ranked method.
In Gaziantep 4 types (M4.12,S8.5,S14.1,S23.1) and in Kahramanmaras 7 types (MA8.1, MA13.7, HA2.2, HA6.4, HA18.8, T1.1, T10.7) were selected.

All of the pollinizers flowered before the female cultivars.
However, pollinizer types which had some synchronous flowering with the females were selected.

Germination ability of pollen was determined by using the hanging drop method in sucrose solution.
The highest germination rate was found as 55–69%.

In the first stage of this research, males were investigated for flowering time and period.
In the second stage, growth and development characteristics, and pollen yield by using weighted ranked method, were evaluated.
