SUSCEPTIBILITY OF NEW INDETERMINATE LINES OF TOMATO TO ALTERNARIA SOLANI IN FIELD CONDITIONS

The selection lines of tomato of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops were used to chose 11 indeterminate lines of F₆ and two standard varieties (Novosadski jabucar and Saint Pierre). The susceptibility of the genotypes to Alternaria solani was studied under conditions of natural infection.
The lines have origin from hybrid combinations where female components were the varieties Korona, Glorija and Rabyvee and Saint Pierre as male component.
The studied lines differed with respect to the length of growing season (from 116 to 130 days) and yield components (average mass of fruit of dry matter and yield). A negative correlation was found with respect to disease intensity and length of growing season as well as with respect to fruit mass and % of dry matter.
The lowest infection intensity was found for the line 1–44/1 (Glorija x Saint Pierre). The lines originating from the crosses between Korona and Saint Pierre had susceptibility at the same level as the variety Saint Pierre.
The line originating from Rabyvee x Saint Pierre and the variety Novosadski jabucar proved to be susceptible to A. solani.
