Abstract
The territory of AR Kosovo and Metohija, although relative small (cca 10.800 km2) is a very interesting district and also very rich in it’s divergence of vegetable species (culture and wild). The aim of collecting and preserve vegetable genfond is determining the priorities in the collection of those species with the most endangered of genetic variability.
The working method consisted of field and laboratory research, in several levels.
In every level of work, relevant data have been taken according to international (IBPGR) standards, starting with expeditions inventory, registration and collecting of gathered materials, characterization, and evaluation of certain samples.

Populations of onions, leeks, watermelon, pepper etc. have been collected.
At the district of Kosovo and Metohija 12 kinds of the genus Allium (A. cupannii, A. flavum, A. sphaerocephalum, A. melananterum, A. ursinum…), and 13 species of genus Rumex (R. acetosa, R. crispus, R nivalis, R. triangularis…) have been recorded.
The collecting will be continued, and for nowadays gathered samples preservation of old cultivar populations and wild growing species at Kosovo and Metohija is given attention as well.
