Abstract
In this study, the electroconductivity and the optical extinction of tomatoes, dry beans, peas, carrots and pepper seeds have been investigated.
The electroconductivity has been measured with the universal standard device LCR. The necessary samples have been prepared by soaking 2,5g of vegetable seeds in 20 ml distilled water after which they were placed in a special holder.
This water extract has also been used for the extinction measurements by the SPECOL – 11 spectrophotometer.
The results of this study show that the electroconductivity of the examined seeds varies between 0,009 to 0,064 Ω-1 m-1, and that it increases when the soaking time or the age of the seeds increases.
The extinction rates lay between 0,05 and 1,7, vary according to the soaking time and the age of the seeds.
