DIAZOTROPHS AND THEIR ACTIVITY IN PEPPER

The subject of the investigation was the effectiveness of different diazotrophic species in two pepper varieties.
The plants were watered with pipe water for about 30 days.
The experiment included 4 control treatments: no nitrogen, 0,5 g, 1,0 g and 1,5 g of N per pot.
The effectiveness of the diazotrophs was shown to be dependent on the species used and the variety of pepper, as well as on the traits under investigation.
The study has shown that biological N can substitute for a certain amount of mineral N. The diazotrophs under investigation brought about an increase in the mass and N content of the root and the above- ground plant parts.
The introduction of the diazotrophs into the soil by means of inoculation of the seeds resulted in an increase in the total number of bacteria, the number of ammonifiers, Azotobacters, oligonitrophilous bacteria, as well as in an increase in dehydrogenase and protease activity.
