OPTIMIZING THE RODENTICIDE APPLICATION IN VEGETABLE FIELDS
During 1994 and 1995 the rodent number reached a degree varying from high to very high – 500 to 200 a.h./ha, but decreased to an amount of 10 to 50 a.h/ha in 1996.
In order to protect vegetables from rodents and to compare the efficiency and ecotoxicological suitability, baits based on the following products were made: EKOROD A (alfachlorohydrin), KLERAT (brodifacum), BARAKI (difetialon), MURISAN A (cumatetralil) and ZINC – PHOSPHIDE. The experimental plot for each product was 1000 m2 each, and baits of prepared products were applied by being put directly into the holes.
In order to obtain an efficiency of 88 – 99% during the period of 1994 to 1995 with the above mentioned rodent number, it was necessary to apply 6 – 7 kg/ha of ZINC PHOSPHIDE bait, 4 – 5 kg/ha KLERAT basis bait, 7 – 8 kg/ha BARAKI bait and 8 – 10 kg/ha MURSAN A and EKOROD A bait.
With a considerable low number of rodents in 1996, 2 – 3 kg/ha ZINC PHOSPHIDE, 3 – 4 kg/ha KLERAT basis bait, 5 – 7 kg/ha BARAKI and 6 – 8 kg/ha MURISAN A and EKOROD A baits were applied.
