Abstract
The objective of the present research was to compare the post-harvest development of the disease caused by the fungus Botrytis cinerea in roses grown in greenhouses covered with a normal and a UV absorbing polyethylene sheets.
The effect of a climatic screen on the disease was also evaluated.
The trial was done in the Horticultural Research Centre (CIAA) of the University of Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano, in Colombia, under greenhouses with features identical to those used in commercial rose cultivation.
The varieties used were "Eterna" and "Madame Delbard". The roses cultivated under the photoselective plastic showed a lower disease development as compared to those grown under commercially used plastic.
No clear effect on the disease was observed with the climatic screen.
The variety Eterna was more susceptible to the disease compared to the variety Madame Delbard.
