Abstract
The life cycles of the predator Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias Henriot. (PARASITIFORMES: Phytoseiidae) and the prey Tetranychus urticae Koch. (ACARIFORMES: Tetranychidae) were studied.
Predatory capacity of P. persimilis on different instars of T. urticae were evaluated under laboratory conditions (19° ± 2°C and 80% ± 5% of R.H.). Life cycle of P. persimilis was 7.14 days and for T. urticae was 19.74 days. P. persimilis showed preference for eggs and adults of the prey and a higher efficiency with higher densities of T. urticae.
