Abstract
Morus alba is distributed in temperate and subtropical regions of the northern hemisphere.
Micropropagation provides an alternative to multiply superior phenotypes/genotypes to enhance the genetic gains.
However one of the most crucial concerns of in vitro propagation is to retain genomic integrity or to maintain the advantages of desired elite genotypes.
Zymograms of the thirty plants were obtained for seven enzymes viz.
PER, EST, ACP, ALP, ADH, MDH and NADDH to determine somaclonal variation.
Dendrogram constructed based on Dice similarity coefficients, clustered all the plants into two major groups at 85 per cent of similarity level.
Cluster-1 contained twenty-nine plants and cluster-2 contained a single plant.
However, 8 different clusters could be obtained at 98 per cent of similarity level.
