The varieties TMG1 and Surinam were the American introduction sources for breeding resistance to ZYMV and CVYV. The variety Bangalore from India was the introduction source for breeding resistance to Downy Mildew.
A Chinese variety was the introduction source for breeding resistance to Powdery Mildew.
C. Haradwickii is wild variety that was also used as a source for breeding.
