Abstract
Results from a comparative test of the newly developed determinate F1 tomato hybrids Nicolina and Elena prima as well as the indeterminate ones Opal bg and Naslada are presented.
The hybrids are characterized by some of the economically most important traits.
The new hybrids are superior by a set of valuable characteristics to the cultivars used as standards.
The hybrid cultivars are characterized by a favorable set of valuable traits such as high productivity, resistance to pathogens and high temperature, marketability and good flavor. Nicolina and Naslada are highly productive Bulgarian hybrid tomato cultivars with the biggest fruits and excellent flavor qualities. Opal bg and Elena prima are highly resistant to high temperature during the vegetation that is typical for Bulgaria, the fruits are of good flavor, nice look and long shelf life being harvested in complete maturity.
An efficient growing scheme for the hybrids is proposed.
The cultivars are formally recognized and are included into the official Bulgarian and European cultivar lists.
They are a valuable contribution to tomato crop gene fund and improve the cultivar structure of the determinate and indeterminate tomato cultivars for middle-early open field production in Bulgaria.
