Abstract
This investigation was carried out in Markazi Province Research Agriculture Center.
Potatoes sowed in autumn and a split plot experimental design with 4 replications was used in which three potato varieties (Aula, Famosa and Moren) and four sowing depth (5, 15, 25 and 35 cm) were considered as main and secondary factors, respectively.
Each plot included four 5 meters rows with 75 cm spacing between the rows and 25 cm between the plants.
Spring sowing yield with 21.573 tons per hectare as compared to 13.158 tons per hectare of autumn sowing and the depth of 15 cm comparing to 35 cm showed significant differences.
Autumn sowing with an average tuber weight of 84.160 g comparing to spring sowing with 70.303 g showed significant difference.
There was no significant difference between different sowing depths.
Spring sowing with 21.833% of dry weight percentage as compared to autumn sowing with 21.083% showed significant difference.
Some positive results of autumn sowing is pre maturing the crop (2 mounts) and saving irrigation up to 60% compared with spring sowing.
