EFFECT OF PLANT DENSITY ON THE PRODUCTIVITY OF BROCCOLI CULTIVARS AND LINES AND EVALUATION OF THE FACTOR VARIATION EFFECT

In the period 2005–2007 five broccoli cultivars and lines grown as late field production were studied.
The experiment was performed in two treatments by 80/60 cm and 80/40 cm planting scheme.
The aim of the study was to establish the effect of plant density on the manifestations of the basic productivity characters – central and lateral flower head weight, lateral flower head number, central flower head yield, lateral flower head yield and total yield as well as to determine the influence of variation factors on the studied characters.
It was established that both the central and lateral flower head weight and lateral head number increase in growing with smaller sowing density (80/60 cm). This results in obtaining of higher yield of central and lateral flower heads more than 1.500 t/da and 0.450 t/da, respectively.
It reflects in realization of higher total yield.
Greater plant density exerts a reducing effect on the productivity manifestations as the values of all studied characters are lower than those read in growing with smaller density.
The genetic factor has the strongest, dominant effect more than 53% on total disperse of all characters.
Differences in plant density influence on variation of productivity characters from 25% to 33%. The factor “year of study” and the interacting components of three factorial analysis of variance effect slightly on the variability of the studied characters.
