The influence of the cultivar/rootstock combination on the chemical compositions of the fruits of some lesser-known peach genotypes, grown in the western part of Romania

Abstract
Peach is one of the fruit species of great interest worldwide and in Romania.
The aim of this research was to assess the behavior of some peach cultivars from other countries when grafted onto rootstocks currently used in Romania, to identify cultivar/rootstock combinations suitable for cultivation in western Romania.
This paper presents the results from the chemical composition of the fruits, more precisely the moisture content, soluble solids content (SSC), pH, mineral content, and the total polyphenol content of 11 cultivars with known origin and 3 hybrids grafted on cherry plum and Oradea rootstocks and grown in Timiș county, Romania.
The moisture content varies between 81.65% for ‘Tokinostate’, grafted on cherry plum, and 92.85% for ‘Piros Magdalena’, grafted on Oradea rootstock.
The soluble solids content varies between 11.07 °Brix in the case of ‘Maria Delicia’, when grafted on Oradea, and 19.19 °Brix in the case of ‘Elbertina’, when grafted on cherry plum.
The pH values ranged from 4.11 for the ‘DR 32-15’ hybrid to 5.66 for ‘Tebana’, both grafted on Oradea rootstock.
Among the analyzed cultivars, the lowest mineral content (0.156%) was recorded in ‘Tokinostate’ grafted on Oradea rootstock.
In comparison, the highest value (1.538%) was observed in the hybrid ‘DR 32-15’, which was also grafted onto Oradea rootstock.
