Abstract
Allium networks are evolving to coordinate the collection, conservation and utilisation of the genetic resources within the genus e.g. the European Cooperative Programme Allium Working Group.
This paper will chart the development, objectives and achievements of this programme, and assess its value as a model system for other regional Allium initiatives.
