PHOSPHORUS FERTILIZATION OF ONION (ALLIUM CEPA L.) AS THE FIRST CROP OF AN HORTICULTURAL ROTATION
A-without phosphoric fertilizer; B-according to current fertilizer recomendations in Cuba (108 kg P2O5/ha); C and D-applications of 100 and 70 % respectively of phosphorus fertilizer as recomended for the whole sequence to onion crop (366 and 265.2 kg P2O5/ha); E-basal phosphorus application (132.5 kg P2O5/ha broadcasting) plus 37.8 kg P2O5/ha (bandel at planting).
It was observed that phosphorus fertilizer didn’t have significant difference in the percentage of soluble solids and the diameter of the bulbs, reaching the highest values with medium and low doses of phosphorus.
There was no significant between the amount of phosphorus applied and the increase of the yield, which show that onion should not start horticultural crop rotation as far as high doses of phosphorus was used.
