Abstract
Onion bulbs cultivars ‘Texas Grano 1025Y’, ‘Texas Grano 438’, ‘Hybrid Granex 429’ and ‘Red Burgundy’ were harvested at Quibor Valley and there were stored at 5°C, 90% RH for 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks, then transferred to local temperature for 75 days.
The effect of cultivar and the short term cold temperature treatments on some quality parameters like TSS, acidity, dry matter and refractive index were investigated.
It was observed increase in TSS and less acidity on the bulbs exposed to low temperatures for long time.
Also a regression line between refractive index and dry matter was found.
