Abstract
Dwarf papyrus emerged from seedlings of Cyperus papyrus. There were no differences in the number of stems between tall (original) and dwarf papyrus.
The tall line plants had longer peduncles and bracts.
The dwarf line plants produced higher number of peduncles.
SEM observation showed some disorder in the arrangement of parenchyma cells inside the flower stem of the dwarf plant.
Both the tall and the dwarf lines were grown in a green house with various levels of shading.
The dwarf line survived under lower light intensity in comparison with the tall line.
Genetic analysis of dwarf papyrus with RAPD marker is currently under way.
