Abstract
Veltheimia bracteata is an evergreen, winter-flowering, bulbous plant from South Africa with potential as a commercial pot plant.
Flower forcing is a prerequisite for successful pot plant production.
An understanding of initiation and factors influencing initiation and differentiation is necessary to develop forcing techniques.

Preliminary results of factors having an influence on initiation and differentiation are discussed.
