Abstract
The controlled exposure of flowers ("Ostensione Controllata") over a period of 5 years was carried out for 6 sweet cherry varieties.
With this method the bee visit to the flowers is allowed only for a previously planned period.
Before the beginning of anthesis, the flowering branches were caged with bags having a mesh size preventing pollinators visits.
Later on the bags were removed day by day, starting from the beginning of flowering of each variety involved in the experiments.
The late removal of the bags confirmed a low fruit set due to the flower ageing.
A deadline period within which it was possible to obtain fruit setting was calculated for each variety and for each year.
