Abstract
The present status of the bulb scale mite (Steneotarsonemus laticeps, Halbt.) as a part of narcissus in the UK is considered, and an estimate given of recent crop value lost due to this pest.

Previous attempts to control the mite at various stages in the production of field-grown bulbs and forced flowers are reviewed.

Assessments of the current usefulness of methyl bromide fumigation of dry bulbs are presented.
Fumigation at a CTP of between 200 and 250 is the present recommended measure for dry bulbs.
