Abstract
Experiments with both infested and healthy narcissus bulbs show that warm storage (7 days at 30°C or 5 days at 35°C) immediately before hot-water treatment reduces all forms of crop damage but necessitates the use of pre-soaking and a higher HWT temperature to maintain eelworm control.
Pre-soaking for 3 hours or 24 hours were equally effective.
The use of formaldehyde in HWT was vital for efficient eelworm control with pre-warmed bulbs.
