Abstract
At Rosewarne we have been breeding narcissus to fill the 6-week gap between "Rijnveld’s Early Sensation", flowering in early Januari and "Golden Harvest" in mid-February.
The requirements are tall stems at gooseneck, fat buds, clear colours, trumpets or large cups which would respond to pre-cooling and forcing, with high yields.
We have selected clones of yellows and bicolors which flower over a 5-week period before "Golden Harvest" and these are now being tested for cut-flower production.
