Genetic diversity analysis of jujube leaf traits in Dongzao, Yuanshiyihao, Rukousu, Gagazao, Lajiaozao and their open-pollinated progeny populations

Abstract
To further develop and utilize the germplasm resources of jujube (Ziziphus Jujuba Mill), the diversity of leaf related traits of Dongzao (DZ), Yuanshiyihao (YSYH), Rukousu (RKS), Gagazao (GGZ) and Lajiaozao (LJZ) and their open-pollinated progeny populations were analyzed.
The results demonstrated that the leaf width and bearing branch length of DZ, GGZ and LJZ were higher than those of their maternal parents, while progenies of YSYH and RKS were just the opposite.
The average SPAD value of each progeny population was higher than that of the corresponding maternal parent.
SPAD values of the progenies of DZ (49.59) and YSYH (49.90) were significantly higher than other progeny populations.
The bearing branch length (19.73 cm) and leaf length (5.18 cm) and width (2.69 cm) of the progeny population of GGZ were significantly higher than other open-pollinated progeny populations.
The coefficients of variation and relative ranges of leaf length and width, petiole length and bearing branch length of GGZ progenies were all higher than those of other four populations.
However, the coefficients of variation of SPAD value in DZ and LJZ were 10.41 and 10.24, exhibiting higher heredity diversities than other progeny populations.
The bearing branch lengths of the 5 progeny populations showed extremely significant positive correlations with leaf length, leaf width and petiole length.
While the leaf length and width showed significant negative correlations with chlorophyll content.
This study provides theoretical references and guidance for the genetic researches on leaf traits, new cultivar breeding and cross breeding of jujube.
