Abstract
Thinning results of apricots are often contradictory, because the trees are chilled from frosts after early treatments and the ecological conditions of trials are unfavourable.

Therefore, the dependence of apricot on thinning was investigated by the author between 1972–1984, namely on the basis of the young fruit’s length, the average temperature, hours of the sunshine-period, the relative vapour content of air, total rain of two days (mm). The thinning dates of Hungarian Best and Rose Apricot cultivars were significant, i.e. climatic and phenological factors are very important.

25–75 ppm of NAA for Hungarian Best and 50–100 ppm of NAA for Rose Apricot are the best doses, because the alternation of cropping decreases, and size and quality of the fruits improve.
