Abstract
Diseased apricot trees with a diameter of about 18 cm were pressure injected during September 1982 with 1 g oxytetracycline-HCl (OTC) diluted in 1 L distilled water.
Injections were made using a device newly developed by us.
Injection-time varied from 12–35 minutes.
Phytotoxity was not observed.
Most of the plants treated with OTC showed no premature foliation symptoms the next growing season, whereas control trees began to leaf out from winter time.
The crop of 1983 was largely better in the treated trees than in the untreated diseased ones.
However, the symptoms reappeared in 1984. These results suggest that the infectious agent was not killed, but only suppressed.
