Abstract
Great variations in natural spread of apricot chlorotic leaf roll (ACLR) in the Valencia region have been described in previous reports.
Even between two adjacent areas these differences occur.
Investigations carried out on populations of leafhoppers showed that the number of species and specimens caught in an area with an important ACLR spread was higher than that found in another location where ACLR spread was virtually inexistent.
The variations between the leafhoppers caught in these two areas provide an indication about which species could be vectors.
In an apricot grove, ACLR diseased, the influence of insecticide and herbicide treatments on natural spread of the disease was studied over a period of 3 years.
In one half of the orchard left untreated, the values of leafhopper population and the number of newly ACLR infected trees were higher than those found in the other half that had been treated.
