THE NUTRIENT CONTENT OF LEAVES IN THE APRICOT VARIETY KÉCSKEI RÓZSA AS INFLUENCED BY ROOTSTOCKS

Abstract
Trials in an apricot plantation in Kecskemét of Research Institute for Fruit- and Ornamental Growing aimed at establishing the optimal nutrient requirement of apricot trees on sandy soil.
The apricot variety Kécskei rózsa was tested on different rootstocks /wild apricot, red plum, myrobalan, peach/. The four-year trials /1980–1983/ revealed that rootstocks differed in nutrient requirements.
The wild apricot C. 1300, the myrobalan C. 162 and the red plum C. 2214 were the most efficient in utilizing nutrient elements.
These trees were the most productive.
Leaves of peach had the lowest nutrient content and apricots on peach rootstock had the lowest yield.
Very close correlation was found between N, K and yield.
Direct correlation was also found between N and the girth of trunk.
