Abstract
Transgenic plants expressing the coat protein of plum pox virus are obtained.
A mutation was introduced into the NH2 amino acid of the cDNA for the coat protein of PPV. Two types of transgenic tobaccos expressing the coat protein were produced.
These plants, in comparison to the vector control plants, contain PPV cDNA and express a polyprotein which was identified to the PPV coat protein by immunodetection with a polyclonal antiserum to PPV.
