Abstract
The Mr of RNA 1 and RNA 2 of the walnut strain of cherry leaf roll virus (CLRV) were determined to be 2.31 × 106 (7.02 Kilobases, Kb) and 2.09 × 106 (6.33 Kb) respectively when assayed by electrophoresis under denaturing conditions.
Translation products of both RNAs in a rabbit reticulocyte cell-free system ranged from 30K to 195K. Anti-virion sera immunoprecipitated three major polypeptide products of 48K, 56K and 165K. The 56K band has the same size as the authentic coat protein as assayed by SDS-PAGE. Time course analysis reveals that the coat protein appears after five min whereas the 165K band corresponding to the polyprotein does so after 20 min.
