Abstract
In vitro translation experiments have been carried out with cRNAs obtained by transcription of cloned cDNAs representing the first two cistrons and the N-terminal part of the third cistron of plum pox virus (strain D): our results show that the polypeptide encoded by this genomic segment has proteolytic activity.
The protease activity was located to the C-terminal region of the polyprotein precursor corresponding to plum pox virus cistrons 1 and 2, like the helper-protease of the tobacco etch and tobacco vein mottling potyviruses.
