Abstract
Morphological characteristics of the flowers of 5 sweet cherry and 10 sour cherry varieties were studied in 1989 and 1990. Twenty flowers of each variety were examined to determine size, shape and formation of the surface and body of the stigma, and the size, colour, shape and pollen production of anthers.
These characteristics are specific to the variety and can be used to describe and identify varieties.
Some characteristics differ significantly from year to year.
