Abstract
Over the past ten years or so, the varietal range of sweet cherry has been greatly improved by introducing new cultivars at the Fruit and Grape Research Centre at Cacak.
In comparative trials, old cultivars that had predominated were abandoned and new ones developed both at home and abroad were included instead.
On the basis of five years of data, ‘Sunburst’, ‘Early Van Compact’, ‘Lapins’, ‘Durone Nero III’ and ‘Yunskaya Rannyaya’ performed best.
The cultivars ‘Carna’, ‘Stark Hardy’, ‘Compact Stella’, ‘Burlat’, ‘Vega’, ‘Merpet’, ‘Merchant’ and ‘Bianca di Verona’ also showed good performance.
