Abstract
Crosses between Capsicum chinense ‘PI-159236’ and several commercial pepper varieties have been carried out.
Resistance to TSWV of the hybrids has been tested by means of the viruliferous thrips method.
Resistance to TSWV of the hybrids has been tested by means of the viruliferous thrips method.
A highly variable behaviour has been exhibited by the hybrids tested.
Some of them were susceptible, with most of the plants showing symptoms a few days after inoculation.
Hybrids were considered to be resistant when none of the plants were affected by disease right up to the end of the growing period.
Other hybrids demonstrated intermediate behaviour, with some systematic symptoms appearing in some plants in the latter stages of cultivation.
