Abstract
Different sources of partial resistance to Clavibacter michiganensis subs. michiganensis are available in the genotypes of Lycopersicon esculentum, Cordeok, Irat-L3, Okitsu Sozai n° 1, and in the accessions of L. peruvianum, LA 385, LA 2334 and LA 2338. Our paper aimed at compairing their levels of resistance and to transfer the most interesting one into tomato lines or varieties adapted to fresh market.

Artificial inoculation were performed on 24 day-old plants (stage of 2–3 leaves) with both an Italian and a French bacterial isolate.
Among the genotypes analysed, Cordeok showed the highest level of resistance, not statistically different from that observed on the wild accessions when tested with Italian isolate.
Resistance of Cordeok was also confirmed at different plant ages.

In order to combine different genes of resistance to canker bacterial, intra and interspecific cross-combinations were accomplished with Italian tomato germplasm.
Incompatibility barriers between L. esculentum and L. peruvianum were overcome by embryo rescue om F1 and BC1 seeds.
Progeneis segregating for resistance to C. m. subsp. michiganensis were selected; the most interesting results were found after combination of two different sources of resistance such as Cordeok and a wild accession.
