Abstract
A reporter GUS gene was succesfully transferred into five Rhododendron cultivar via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.
The various susceptibility to Agrobacterium strain used was found among these cultivars.
Some primary transformants were probably chimeric as both the GUS activity and the GUS sequences were lost during their vegetative propagation.
