Abstract
Vandaceous orchids are cultivated in Singapore mainly for cut-flowers.
Most cultivars are intergeneric hybrids that involved members of two or more genera.
Two classes of these hybrids are of particular importance, Aranda (Arachnis x Vanda) and Mokara (Arachnis x Vanda x Ascocentrum). Cytological studies showed that both diploid and polyploid cultivars of varied genomic constitutions are being selected for commercial production.
