Abstract
A rootstock trial with cultivars ‘Stanley’, ‘Cacanska lepotica’ and ‘Cacanska najbolja’ using rootstocks Damas C, Myrobalan (4 clones), MY-KL-A, GF 43, GF 655-2, GF 1380, GF 1869, Marunke, Povazska okruhlicka, Brompton, JA and Pixy was established in the spring 1990. Into this trial self-rooted trees of the cultivars studied were also included.
In the orchard yield, size of trees, trunk-cross-section area and suckering have been evaluated.
The highest crown volume with all cultivars was on the rootstock GF 43 and the smallest on Pixy.
The trees on own roots grew weaker than those ones on rootstocks with an exception of Pixy.
The total accumulated yield per one tree from 1992 to 1996 was the highest with ‘Stanley’ on the rootstocks JA and Myrobalan SE 4041. The cultivar ‘Cacanska lepotica’ was the most productive on Damas C and MY-KL-A. ‘Cacanska najbolja’ had the highest yield per tree on GF 1869 and GF 655–2. Specific yield (in kg per cm2) was with ‘Stanley’ the highest on GF 655-2 and JA. The own rooted trees of ‘Cacanska lepotica’ had the highest specific yield, whereas with ‘Cacanska najbolja’ the best specific yield was on GF 1869 and GF 655-2. The suckering was the most prolific under trees on rootstocks GF 1869, Marunke and GF 655-2.
