Abstract
This experiment was used to determine the nutritive value of almond hull. 4 intact male Turkey-Ghashghaii mature sheep were used.
The chemical composition and digestion coefficient of feed were analysed by proximate analysis method and direct collection of animal faeces (in vivo). The means for crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), ether extract (EE), Ash, Ca, P, nitrogen free extract (NFE), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and acid detergent lignin (ADL) based on dry matter (DM) of almond hull were 7, 13.5, 2.5, 12, 0.4, 0.19, 60, 21.1, 13.7 and 4.1 percent, respectively.
The average digestibility of DM, CP, CF, EE, NFE, organic matter (OM) and total digestible nutrients (TDN) of almond hull were 73.05, 29.6, 40.6, 84.3, 84.4, 68.4, and 29.4 percent, digestible energy (DE) and metabolizable energy (ME) were 1.29 and 1.05 Mcal/kg.
With respect to these results, the intake of almond hull was high but through enrichment of almond hull it is possible to improve its nutritive value and digestible energy.
