It is a Northern border of apricot production in the USSR.
The main problem of effective apricot production is a selection of varieties ecologically adapted to different climatic conditions of the Northern Caucasus.
Sharp change of temperature in the most zones in January and February when frosts after thaws cause flower bud death is the main limiting factor.
Two directions in increasing efficiency of apricot production are used:
- choice zones ecologically suitable for apricot production;
- breeding new varieties with rhythmic development suitable to variable conditions of environment.
