Abstract
The study has been conducted at the Vegetable Research and Development Station of Buzau, under the normal testing conditions, from 2012 to 2016. As far as Solanum lycopersicum is concerned, the germoplasm basis of the Physiology-Ecological Cultures Laboratory of SCDL Buzau includes over 200 genotypes, 20 of them being in an advanced amelioration stage.
The researches aimed the creation of new varieties that could adapt the present climate changes and follow the request of both producers and consumers.
The selected biological material has been represented by 10 lines of tomatoes which were stabilized during the amelioration process along 5 to 6 generations.
The biological material has been cultivated and tested in solariums, on ecological agriculture basis.
The determinations have been repeated 3 times, the results were processed statistically and correlation coefficients have been established.
The stabilized lines had stable and distinct characteristics, which confers personality and identity to each variety.
This article brings forward the results obtained when characterizing the new lines as far as the plant and fruit biometric indicators are concerned.
The analysis of variance has revealed significant differences among the eight genotypes for all indicators analyzed.
From this analysis we have found that L30 (recently homologated as ‘Coralina’ cultivar) have had a good capacity to develop fruits for each plant and a high estimated yield plant-1. L30, characterized by a great plant height, a large number of flowers and inflorescences per plant, small distances between inflorescences, small number of fruit locules, small fruit diameter and height, small pericarp thickness and low values for plant vegetation indices, as early genotype, could develop under heat and eco-agro conditions a high number of fruits and estimated yield for each plant.
Hence, this tomato line is recommended for breeding program under eco-agro conditions for obtained a good yield under abiotic stress.
