Dendrochronological analysis of the growth dynamics of Cedrus deodara (Roxb.) G. Don. under the conditions of the Southern Coast of the Crimea

A retrospective analysis of the features of C. deodara growth under the conditions of introduction in the Southern Coast of the Crimea (SCC) showed that during the first decades of the life of this young plant the increment of the trunk tissue was characterized by a significant variability.
As the age of the plant increases, the level of oscillation of this indicator decreased.
The long-term average annual growth of trunk diameter was 4.5±0.1 mm.
The considerable differentiation of trunk tissues at the level of intensity of formation of its certain structures was revealed – the aggregate figure of thickness of early wood was 1.9±0.1 mm, late 0,4±0,04 mm.
It has been shown that the effect of climatic factors on the increment value of C. deodara trunk wood is the most evident in the second half of the growing season.
It has been found that under the conditions of the coastal area of the SCC the climate dryness has a decisive impact on structure formation and the increment value of C. deodara wood trunk.
During the cultivation of C. deodara in the SCC it is important to choose sites with orographic conditions, reducing the negative effect of climate dryness.
