Abstract
Poland is one of the leading countries in fruit production in Eastern Europe and in the world, especially, in small fruit volume (FAO Production Yearbooks).

The current fruit production has already doubled since the middle sixties (mainly apples). The area under fruit production has systematically decreased since 1975. Hovever, the fruit production development would have not been possible without certain changes in nursery production.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the development, structure and current stage of Polish nursery production in the period of 1967–1986.
