Abstract
Planning functions are indispensable links in the management of a glasshouse firm.
A sound strategic and tactical plan is an essential instrument for the grower in operating and controlling the various functions of his firm.
It also enables the grower to respond timely and adequately to unforeseen situations and unusual circumstances.

The planning functions are divided into processes to create information systems.
In this paper information flows between the different processes are described.
In the future information will become a new means of production to reduce planning and operation risks.
This production input will also require careful planning.
Due to the complexity of planning in a glasshouse firm, the manager will make use of information systems and call upon outside experts.
The information systems for the planning functions have been developed within the framework of the information model for all functions of a glasshouse firm.
