Abstract
In vitro vegetative propagation of asparagus has especially allowed cloning of the parents of clonal hybrid varieties.
During culture, explants changed considerably in morphogenetic capability which could be confirmed at biochemical level (polyamines). Many aspects of asparagus cloning method are similar with the method used for forest trees and ornementals.
Perennial nature which is common to all these species is very likely responsible for their behaviour in micropropagation.
