Abstract
We have screened different doubled haploid cell lines of Asparagus officinalis for the sensitivity of glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) and acid phosphatase (AcPh) activities to an increase in glucose concentration in the culture medium ("glucose repression"). A female plant showed a "glucose insensitive" phenotype.
A preliminary genetic analysis of the F1 hybrids and of one backcross progeny indicated the genetic determinism of this trait.
The analysis of GDH zymograms indicated that some isoenzymes were particularly affected by "glucose repression".
