Abstract
The influence of irrigation and fertilization level as well as plant density on the infestation of roots by Fusarium and of the overground part of seedlings by Botrytis were investigated in an asparagus nursery.
Irrigation and plant density had no significant influence on the occurrence of root rot on one-year-old seedlings.
Non-fertilized seedlings showed a higher percentage of infected roots than seedlings fertilized with 150–750 kg/ha NPK. Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. asparagi and Rhizoctonia solani were mostly isolated from infected roots.
Seedlings grown at a higher density and in irrigated conditions were more severely infected by Botrytis when compared with those grown at a lower density and without irrigation.
