Abstract
Asparagus replanting is a major problem in the Netherlands.
Replanting on fields with a previous asparagus history causes low yields and there is a lack of suitable soils for establishing new asparagus stands.
Previous research results showed the possibility of imitating symptoms of asparagus replantproblems in greenhouse potting experiments.
In 1988 experiments were started to optimize this technique and to investigate the perspectives of developing a soil evaluation test.
