Abstract
Literature concerned with chemical control of maturation and ripening of cherries (Prunus avium L. and P. cerasus L.), peaches (P. persica L., Batsch), grapes (Vitis vinifera L.), apples (Malus pumila Mill) and pears (Pyrus communis L.) is reviewed.
Two regulators of recent origin, SADH and CEPA influence maturation and/or ripening of most of these fruits.
Other growth regulators with documented effects on maturation or ripening in several of these species are GA, ABA and a number of chemicals with auxin activity.
